The risk of dengue is increasing in Baitadi district. According to lab technician Jaysingh Badal from the District Health Office, seven people have tested positive for dengue so far.
Three cases were reported in Dasharathchand Municipality, two in Purchaudi Municipality, and one each in Melauli and Patan municipalities. In response, the Health Office launched a “Search and Destroy Larvae” campaign to prevent the spread of the disease.
Since mosquitoes are more active during the rainy season, the Health Office conducted the campaign in the district headquarters and Patan Bazaar. Bipin Lekhak, information officer at the Health Office, said that health workers, security personnel, local representatives, civil society members, and local residents all took part. The campaign was carried out on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, local governments in the area have also started their own campaigns to control dengue. Dogadakedar Rural Municipality, for example, organizes a cleanliness drive every Friday as part of dengue prevention.
The campaign will continue for three months, and all schools, health posts, and government offices in the municipality have been requested to participate, said Dogadakedar’s information officer Prayagraj Panta.
