Police have rescued 8 underage girls from various spa centers in Lakeside, Pokhara.
According to Kaski District Police Office spokesperson DSP Hari Bahadur Basnet, 4 girls were rescued from Evander Beauty and Spa, and 2 each from Tarahill Lodge Spa & Beauty Care and Porcelain Spa.
The rescue operation was launched after authorities received information that girls under 18 were being made to work at these spas. The team included members from the Kaski District Police Office and the Social Development Division of Pokhara Metropolitan City.
The girls were rescued on Asar 16, but police shared the information publicly only on the night of Asar 17.
The rescued minors have been handed over to the Labor and Employment Office in Pokhara for further action against the spa operators.
