Atletico Madrid Extends Antoine Griezmann’s Contract Until 2026

Atletico Madrid has extended French forward Antoine Griezmann’s contract by two more years, keeping the door open for him to stay at the club until he is 36.

Griezmann still had one year left on his previous deal. This season, he played 53 matches across all competitions and scored 19 goals. Atletico finished third in La Liga and reached the semifinals of the Copa del Rey.

The 34-year-old is now the club’s all-time top scorer with 197 goals.

“I’m very happy to wear this amazing jersey for more years,” Griezmann wrote on Instagram. “I hope to bring you a lot of joy.”

There had been rumors that he might move to Major League Soccer (MLS), but Atlético decided to extend his stay. The club is also preparing for the upcoming Club World Cup in the United States.

Atletico will face Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in their first group match on June 15 in California. After that, they will play against Seattle Sounders and Brazilian club Botafogo.
