Nepal is currently playing against the Netherlands in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 in Scotland. Nepal batted first after losing the coin toss. After 25 overs, Nepal has scored 109 runs, losing 4 wickets.
Nepal’s opening batsmen didn’t score many runs. Opener Kushal Bhurtel was out after scoring only 18 runs from 19 balls. Anil Sah was also out early, making only 2 runs from 16 balls, which put pressure on Nepal.
After that, Bhim Sharki was out, scoring 35 runs from 38 balls. Captain Rohit Paudel also got out after making 35 runs. This means Nepal lost its main batsmen as they crossed 100 runs.
Currently, Aarif Sheikh is at the batting crease with 11 runs from 14 balls. Dipendra Singh Airee has joined him to continue Nepal’s batting.
Nepal has also faced a setback as two of its all-rounders, Gulshan Kumar Jha and Sompal Kami, were injured during their trip to Scotland. They both got hurt while practicing for their final match against the Netherlands.
Because of these injuries, the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) has given a chance to all-rounder Bashir Ahmed and bowler Nandan Yadav. Nandan has already played for the national team in T20 matches.
Head coach Stuart Law brought in these two young players after Gulshan Kumar Jha injured his knee and Sompal Kami injured his right hand. Both players will miss the rest of the match against the Netherlands and the upcoming T20I triangular series.
Earlier in the tournament, Nepal won one out of two games against Scotland. In League 2, Nepal is in seventh place with 10 points from 15 games.
