School Van Accident in Kalanki: One Child Killed, Seven Injured
A school van accident occurred inside the compound of Edify International School in Kalanki. One student died and seven others were injured in the incident.
According to SP and spokesperson Apil Raj Bohara of the Kathmandu District Police, 9-year-old Sonakshi Yadav lost her life in the accident. She died during treatment at Shahid Memorial Hospital.
The accident happened when the van hit the school gate pillar while trying to exit the school premises. Several students and a teacher were injured.
Among the injured students are 8-year-old Reshma Moktan, 9-year-old Neshiya Thapa, 9-year-old Nikisha Dangol, 11-year-old Simran Khadka, and 9-year-old Premisa Ghartimagar. All of them are being treated at Nepal National Hospital.
The school’s principal, 46-year-old Suraj Pokhrel, and the van driver, 60-year-old Harkabahadur Karki, were also injured. They are receiving treatment at Vayodha Hospital.
