Boy Dies at Siraha Provincial Hospital, Clashes Erupt Over Alleged Medical Negligence

A 10-year-old boy named Rajan Mahara from Siraha-6 Basbitta died at Siraha Provincial Hospital on Sunday evening, leading to tension between the victim’s family, locals, and the police.

According to the family, Rajan had been suffering from continuous fever for two days and was admitted to the hospital on Sunday morning. His aunt Shobha Mahara said they had brought him after feeding him milk and biscuits, but he suddenly screamed and died after being given an injection. The family accused the doctors of negligence, claiming he died because of careless treatment.

Following the incident, relatives and locals gathered at the hospital and tried to vandalize the facility. Police intervened, leading to a clash between the protesters and the police.

During the clash, 10 people were injured, including 9 police officers.

Siraha police spokesperson DSP Birendra Kumar Paswan said that tear gas was used to control the situation. The boy’s family is demanding action against the responsible doctor and the hospital management committee chairman Sohendra Prasad Yadav.
