The flood in the Bhotekoshi River has caused damage to the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project. The dam and workers’ camp have been affected.
According to project administration chief Tiknath Paudel, the flood washed away the camp, forcing the employees to run into the nearby forest for safety.
- “There’s likely a big loss. Even our vehicles have been swept away,” he said. “Our staff are now staying in a forest area called Audit-2.”
Around 25 to 30 employees, including two women, are currently stranded. A rescue helicopter is being arranged to bring them to safety.
Paudel confirmed that the main power production facility of the hydropower plant remains safe.
