Four people trapped in the floodwaters of the Bheri River at Dhupichaur, Thuli Bheri Municipality-3 in Dolpa, were rescued safely today.

They had gone to collect firewood brought by the swollen river when they got stuck in the current. A joint team of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and the Nepal Army carried out the rescue.

The rescued individuals have been identified as 33-year-old Lalit Bohora, 26-year-old Nanda Prasad Bohora, 37-year-old Shyamlal Bohora, and 35-year-old Lalkumar Budha, all from Palang village in Tripurasundari Municipality-6.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ruk Bahadur Khadka, the four got trapped between two streams of the river. Upon receiving the report, Chief District Officer Rom Mahat and a rescue team rushed to the site.

“The strong current made the rescue challenging. Even the rescuers faced some issues,” said Khadka. Authorities have warned locals to stay away from riverbanks as water levels in the Thulibheri River have risen.
