In the last fiscal year, 351 people went missing in Makawanpur district, including women, men, elderly, and children. Out of them, 34 are still missing.
According to the District Police Office Makawanpur, the highest number of missing cases were women. Police spokesperson Deputy Superintendent Shyamu Aryal said that 157 women were reported missing, of which 140 have been found. However, 17 are still unaccounted for.
During the same period, 84 men of different ages were reported missing. Out of them, 78 have been located, and 6 remain missing.
Similarly, 71 girls were reported missing, with 66 found and 5 still missing. Among 23 missing boys, 22 were found, but one has not yet been located.
According to Assistant Sub-Inspector Nandakala Tamata, head of the Women Cell at the district police office, 16 elderly people went missing during the last fiscal year. Out of them, 11 were found, and 5 are still missing.
Spokesperson Aryal stated, “Of the 351 people who went missing, 317 have been found, but 34 are still missing. Search efforts are ongoing to find out where they went.”
The Women Cell believes that some people may have returned home but their families might not have informed the police.
