

A 22-year-old woman, Anu Rai, has died after being attacked by her husband with a spade in Phidim, Panchthar.
Police say the incident happened around 8 PM on Thursday during a domestic dispute. Her husband, 27-year-old Mahendra Tamang from Phalelung-7, struck her with a spade near her parental home, leaving her seriously injured.
She was first taken to Panchthar Hospital but was later referred to B&C Hospital in Jhapa due to her critical condition. She died on Friday morning while undergoing treatment, according to District Police Office spokesperson Rupesh Tamang.
Police said the couple had a troubled relationship with frequent arguments. After the attack, Mahendra fled but was found hiding in Gole village, Phidim-6. He has been taken into custody, and police are investigating the case. He will be presented in court soon.
