The validity period of driving licenses in Nepal has now been extended to 10 years. The government has published an amendment to several Nepal Acts in the official gazette.

According to the changes, the Vehicle and Transport Management Act 2049 has been updated, increasing the license period from 5 years to 10 years. This is mentioned in sub-section 3 of section 54 of the Act.

With this new rule, both the regular license and renewed license will now be valid for 10 years. Previously, renewed licenses were valid for only 5 years.

The new amendment also allows private companies to operate vehicle fitness and pollution testing centers.
