Update: 19 people including Chakre Milan to remain in custody for 7 days

Nineteen people arrested from gangster Chakre Milan’s birthday party in Maharajgunj will remain in police custody for at least seven days.

The Kathmandu District Administration Office has granted police permission to keep them in custody for further investigation. They were arrested late at night from a hotel in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu.

Although 47 people were initially detained, police released 28 after screening. The remaining 19 were kept under custody on charges of public misconduct.

According to SP Kuldeep Chand, the investigation will now proceed against Chakre Milan (real name Milan Gurung) along with Ganesh Bahadur Bogati, Nirajan Paudel, Roshan Subedi, Rajesh Khadka, Sandeep KC, and Rahul Khadka.

Others who will also remain in custody are Yamu Paudel, Saurabh Sunar, Dilliram Kandel, Ritik Lama, Chandradev Karki, Jeet Bahadur Lama, Prakash Gole, Amir Ale Magar, Uttam Maharjan, Pranish Kattel, Raju Pariyar, and Safal Shahi.

Police said the group caused public disturbance during a midnight birthday celebration. Some of those arrested were just hotel customers or unrelated individuals, and were later released.

“People from different backgrounds were taken in, but we screened them and let the unrelated ones go,” SP Chand said.
