The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has asked people to stay alert as there is a risk of flooding in six rivers across Nepal until Wednesday (August 6).

Water levels are expected to rise in the East Rapti, Bagmati, Mahakali, Karnali, Bheri, and West Seti rivers.

According to flood expert Binod Parajuli, the Babai River crossed the danger level earlier today, reaching 7.1 meters. However, the water level dropped to 6.62 meters by 3 PM. The warning level is 5.5 meters and the danger level is 6.8 meters.

Parajuli warned that small rivers in areas like Kavrepalanchok, Makwanpur, Dang, Banke, Chitwan, Kailali, and Kanchanpur may see a sudden rise in water flow, posing a high flood risk. He added that early flood warnings are being issued in high-risk areas.
