Sharmila Waiba, who calls herself an activist, was arrested in Pokhara.

She was arrested from Lakeside, Pokhara on Tuesday for breaking the Electronic Transaction Act, following a request from the Cyber Bureau.

On August 10 (Sawan 26), the Cyber Bureau got an arrest warrant from Kathmandu District Court for her cybercrime charges.

Based on this warrant, the Kaski police arrested Waiba, said SP Shyambabu Oliya, chief of Kaski Police.

“She had an arrest warrant for cybercrime, so our team arrested her,” Oliya said. “Now we will send her to Kathmandu for further action.”

The warrant was issued after a complaint filed by one of her colleagues.

Earlier, in March 2024 (Chaitra 2080), Waiba was also arrested for cybercrime and assault. At that time, she was released after paying a total bail of 35,000 rupees for assault and cybercrime charges.

Waiba, who calls herself a social activist, has been active on social media and YouTube, often seeking allowances as support.
