Man found dead after being tied to a tree in Jhapa

A man who was tied to a tree by locals in Jhapa has been found dead. The incident took place in Jhapa Rural Municipality-1, Lasuna.

According to police, 60-year-old Jatan Soren was tied to a mango tree on Tuesday night around 10:30 PM after reportedly drinking too much alcohol. He was found dead early Wednesday morning around 4 AM, still tied to the tree.

District Police Office spokesperson DSP Khagendra Bahadur Khadka said that Soren had gone near the house of his neighbor, Mahadev Tudu, and started behaving inappropriately. In response, Mahadev and some locals tied him to a nearby mango tree with a plastic rope.

When they checked on him in the morning, they found he had died and immediately informed the police.

Police have arrested five people in connection with the incident, including the deceased’s son, 27-year-old Antalal Soren, along with Mahadev Tudu (50), Lukhiram Tudu (20), and Lakhiram Tudu (21). Others involved are still on the run, and police say a search is ongoing.

Police are preparing to file a murder case against those arrested.
