Bhaktapur police have decided to investigate Milan Gurung, also known as Chakre Milan, in connection with an attempted murder case from a year ago.

The case was filed at the Thimi Police Circle, naming Chakre Milan and others as suspects. The complaint was lodged by Dinesh Kumar Rayamajhi, who claimed that on Bhadra 10, 2081 (August 26, 2024), his nephew Manish Rayamajhi was attacked at Badda’s Tawa Restaurant in Sanothimi, Bhaktapur.

The attackers were said to include 25-year-old Ajit Khawas from Hariban Municipality-4, Sarlahi. Police had arrested and filed a case against Khawas, but Chakre Milan was not included as a defendant at that time because his whereabouts were unknown.

According to the complaint, Manish was attacked with a khukuri (traditional knife), injuring both sides of his waist. Bhaktapur police spokesperson DSP Dhundiraj Neupane confirmed that Milan will now be investigated in connection to the same case.

Currently, Chakre Milan is in custody at the Kathmandu District Police Office. He was arrested on Thursday night during a birthday party at Hotel Sambala in Maharajgunj, along with 47 others.

Out of those arrested, 19 are under investigation for disorderly conduct. After the Kathmandu investigation concludes, Bhaktapur police will begin their inquiry into Chakre Milan.

Even though Milan did not physically take part in the attack, it is alleged that the attack was carried out under his plan.
