The Armed Police Force (APF) is continuing the search for a mother and her son who are suspected to have gone missing in the Kaligandaki River.

According to APF Deputy Spokesperson DSP Shailendra Thapa, the incident was reported on the evening of Shrawan 21. Items found at a waiting shed near the riverbank in Setibeni, Galyang-5 of Syangja, included a woman’s bag, slippers, mobile phone, and a child’s shoes.

These items are believed to belong to 27-year-old Shyamkala Pandey and her 6-year-old son Arpit Pandey from Birgha, Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-4.

“They have not been in contact, so we suspect they might have gone missing in the Kaligandaki River,” said DSP Thapa.

In response, a search operation was launched Thursday morning with a team led by an inspector from APF Gulm No. 30 in Syangja. The APF is also preparing to bring in divers from Pokhara to assist in the search.
