Four people from Jwalamukhi Rural Municipality in Dhading have gone missing in Uttarakhand, India, where they had gone for work. The District Administration Office has requested the Ministry of Home Affairs to ask the Indian Embassy for help in finding them.
According to Chief District Officer Suman Ghimire, the missing are Lal Bahadur Tamang, Chholama Tamang, Phelama Tamang, and Singh Bahadur Tamang, all from Ward 2, Kafalpani, Dhading. Their families informed authorities that they lost contact after the group went to Uttarakhand for labor work.
On August 5 (Shrawan 20), sudden floods and landslides struck Dharali village in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, causing heavy loss of life and property. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
Earlier, reports had confirmed that 13 people from Jajarkot, four from Bardiya, and one from Jumla were also missing due to the disaster. With the four from Dhading, the total number of missing Nepalis has reached 22.
In Jajarkot’s Kuse Rural Municipality, 13 people, including Karn Bahadur Singh, Ram Bahadur Singh, Nim Singh, Rabin Singh, and seven others whose identities are not yet confirmed, are missing. In Bardiya’s Madhuwan, Narendra Khadka, Saraswati Khadka, Amrita Pariyar, and Subas BK are missing. In Jumla’s Tila Rural Municipality, Janak Bahadur Shahi has also gone missing.
Local governments have asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take action for search and rescue of the missing Nepalis.
