Today’s Weather in Nepal: August 9, 2025

The weather across the country is generally cloudy. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the monsoon’s low-pressure line is slightly north of its usual position in the east and close to Nepal’s Tarai in the west.

Because of this, light to moderate rain is falling in some parts of the Tarai areas of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

This afternoon, skies will remain mostly cloudy nationwide. Moderate rain is expected in some hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, and in a few other places across the country. One or two areas in the hilly region of Koshi and Bagmati may see heavy rain.

Tonight, the weather will stay mostly cloudy. Moderate rain is possible in parts of the hilly and Tarai areas of Madhes, Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and in a few other hilly and Tarai locations elsewhere. Heavy rain may occur in one or two areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Madhesh provinces.

The department has urged people in Koshi, Madhes, and Bagmati provinces to remain cautious due to the risk of heavy rainfall.
