Two people died after a scooter and a bus collided in the Panipiya forest area on the Itahari-Dharan road section in Itahari sub-metropolitan city-20, Sunsari.
The bus (Province 1-02-002 Kha 0455) was heading from Itahari to Dharan when it hit a scooter (Ko 22 Pa 2125) coming from the opposite direction. The scooter rider, Sujan BK, and passenger, Suraj BK, both from Birtamod municipality-5, Jhapa, were seriously injured.
They died during treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan at around 12:30 pm, according to Sunsari police spokesperson Yograj Khatri.
Police have taken the bus driver, Prem Magar from Belaka municipality-3, Udayapur, into custody for further investigation.
