Heavy monsoon rains are hitting many parts of Nepal, especially the western and Tarai regions, causing floods, landslides, and road blockages. Several places have reported casualties and damage.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) says the active monsoon system will continue on Thursday, with very heavy rainfall expected in the western region and light to moderate rain in other areas. The weather is likely to improve from Friday.
Heavy rain is possible in parts of Madhes, Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, with very heavy rain at a few locations. In Karnali Province, heavy rain may occur at one or two places. The MFD warns of landslides, floods, and rising water levels in rivers, streams, and canals, which could affect transport, agriculture, tourism, and daily life. People are advised to stay alert and follow updates.
