In Himali Rural Municipality-1 of Bajura, floods from the Bichchhya River have washed away two houses. The flood struck around 7 PM today, destroying the homes of local residents Sabbali Thapa and Sanchalal Thapa.

The flood also damaged a suspension bridge and Bichchhya Secondary School, said Ward Secretary Sanjiv Chaudhary. He added that the ward office is also at risk.

Residents living near the river ran to higher ground as the floodwaters surged. With continued rainfall, the water level may rise further, causing more damage, leaving locals worried.

According to local representatives, no human casualties have been reported so far.

Since the Bichchhya River flows into the Kuwadi River, the rural municipality has urged people living near the Kuwadi River to stay alert and take precautions.
