KATHMANDU, AUGUST 16 – The Salt Trading Corporation Limited (STC) has confirmed that 1,523,000 sacks of chemical fertilizers have arrived at the Kolkata port in India, and the process of transporting them to Nepalese warehouses is ongoing.
The recent import includes 440,000 sacks of urea and 1,083,000 sacks of DAP.
The STC has issued a circular to provincial governments regarding quota-based distribution of the fertilizers stored in warehouses. Quotas have already been shared with municipalities by the provincial authorities.
In a press release on Friday, the Corporation requested all registered fertilizer dealers to coordinate with their municipalities and STC offices to distribute the fertilizers according to the assigned quotas.
The release also noted that the Corporation is aware of reports on social media and other platforms claiming a shortage of chemical fertilizers in the market, and emphasized that distribution is underway.
