Fire destroys seven houses in northern Gorkha

A fire broke out in Chumnubri Rural Municipality-2, Lho, Gorkha on Friday night around 11:30 pm, damaging seven houses.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Indra Prasad Subedi, the houses belonged to locals Tenzing Lama, Rekjin Lama, Tasi Lama, Worken Lama, Ghyachu Lama, Sanduk Lama, and Chewang Lama. The full details of the damage are still being collected.

Ward chair Mingyur Dorje Lama said clothes, food grains, cash, and some jewelry inside the houses were destroyed. The fire is believed to have started from Sanduk Lama’s house and spread to others, possibly caused by an electrical short circuit.

The fire was brought under control with the help of locals and police. No human casualties were reported, according to Gorkha District Police Office.
