From mid-April to mid-August this year, Nepal has experienced a total of 2,853 disaster incidents, causing 126 deaths and injuring 585 people.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) reported that 5,041 families were affected and 23 people went missing. The disasters include 216 floods, 317 landslides, 221 heavy rains, 245 lightning strikes, and 77 snakebites across the country.
Other incidents recorded during this period include 1,114 fires, 158 wildfires, 277 storms, 172 wild animal attacks, 46 landslides, five earthquakes, two boat capsizes, and one hailstorm, among other events.
On August 16 alone, seven fires, one flood, eight landslides, four cases of continuous rain, and three wild animal attacks were reported, resulting in one death.
The total estimated damage from these disasters during this period is around Rs. 3.84 million.
