Nepal woke up to a mix of clouds and sunshine this morning, with conditions set to shift through the day as the monsoon continues to dominate the country’s weather pattern.
Temperatures started at around 22 °C (72 °F) in the early morning and are expected to climb to a daytime high of 31 °C (88 °F) by mid-afternoon. While the first half of the day will see partly cloudy skies with occasional sunny breaks, rain showers are forecast to return from the late afternoon and continue into the evening.
According to hourly forecasts, rain could begin as early as 8 AM in some areas, clearing for a few hours, before becoming more widespread after 5 PM. Showers are likely to persist through the night, cooling conditions down to around 24–25 °C (75–77 °F).
August is one of the wettest months in Nepal, with average rainfall ranging between 310 mm and 470 mm. The country has already seen flooding and landslides this month due to heavy rain, and officials continue to advise caution when traveling through vulnerable areas.
The pattern of hot mornings and late-day storms is typical for this time of year, with high humidity making the heat more uncomfortable. Residents are advised to carry umbrellas or raincoats if venturing out in the afternoon and evening.
Authorities have reminded residents, particularly in flood- and landslide-prone districts, to stay alert as scattered heavy showers remain possible.
