Police in Sarlahi district have arrested two people carrying an illegal homemade pistol. The arrested individuals are 25-year-old Kishan Mahara from Ramnagar Rural Municipality-7, Sisaut village, and 18-year-old Shyam Mahara from Bagmati Municipality-4, Jirayat village.
According to the District Police Office Sarlahi, the incident happened on August 27 (Bhadra 11) around 3 PM. Police stopped Kishan Mahara who was riding a motorcycle (number BR 06 DM 9523) from India’s Sonbarsa area towards Malangwa in Sarlahi.
During questioning, Kishan told police that he had given his weapon to Shyam Mahara for safekeeping. Based on this information, police also arrested Shyam. The homemade pistol was later recovered from the Bagmati riverbank in Bagmati Municipality-12.
Both men have been charged under the Arms and Ammunition Act. On Thursday, the Sarlahi District Court extended their detention by 10 days for further investigation, according to the District Police Office Sarlahi.
