Dog lured with meat and beaten to death in Chitwan

Two men lured a dog with meat and then killed it by hitting its head with a stick and a sharp tool. The shocking incident was recorded in a video that has now gone viral on social media.

The incident happened in Kalika area of Padampur, Chitwan. Many people, including animal rights activists, have demanded police action against the men for cruelly killing an innocent animal.

According to eyewitnesses, the men claimed the dog tried to attack them. They distracted the dog with meat and then beat it to death. Animal rights activist Irfan Khan called the act cruel and illegal, saying people often blame the dog by saying it tried to bite, but in reality, dogs usually do not attack without reason. He explained that dogs might react only if teased, hurt, or in trouble. “A hungry dog that comes for meat would not suddenly try to bite,” he added.

One eyewitness said the scene was unbearable to watch. She recorded a 23–24 second video while on a work visit, but once the men noticed, they chased her. She managed to escape in an auto-rickshaw. She also complained that when she tried to file a police complaint, no one supported her. Locals too hesitated to report the crime out of fear.

Police at Padampur said they only recently received information about the case. “We have seen the video and are sending a team to the site for investigation,” a police official said.
