The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that the monsoon line is currently located in the eastern region at its normal position and slightly south in the western region. A low-pressure area around Sikkim is also affecting eastern Nepal.
According to the department, this afternoon most hilly areas will see generally cloudy skies, while the rest of the country will have partly cloudy conditions. Moderate rainfall is likely in some hilly areas and other parts of the country. Heavy rainfall is possible in a few places of Koshi and Karnali Province.
Tonight, hilly areas of Koshi and Madhes Province will remain mostly cloudy, while other regions will be partly cloudy. Moderate rainfall is expected in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki hills, and in parts of the Tarai. A few areas of Koshi’s Tarai region may also see heavy rainfall.
The department has warned about possible landslides and debris flows due to the rain. Water levels in rivers and streams may rise, which could affect transportation. People are advised to stay alert and take precautions.
