American Trekker Missing in Everest Region Amid Heavy Snowfall

An American tourist has gone missing while trekking in the Everest region.

According to Lama Kaji Sherpa, the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC) chairman, the missing person is a 63-year-old American named Wai Ma.

“He checked in at the Sagarmatha National Park checkpoint last Wednesday, but after that, no one has heard from him,” said Sherpa. “Heavy snowfall has made search efforts difficult.”

The snowfall has also affected mountain climbing activities in the Everest area. Most climbers have been forced to stay at the base camp. Since Sunday, continuous heavy snowfall has been causing problems for both tourists and local people.

The local administration and related agencies said they are working together to ensure the safety of affected tourists and locals by organizing rescue and management efforts.
