Arsenal may have lost the first leg of their Champions League semi-final, but club legend Thierry Henry believes the dream isn’t over yet. Speaking after the 1-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, Henry pointed out that there’s still everything to play for in the second leg.
The Gunners went behind early, with Ousmane Dembele scoring in just the fourth minute. But the match wasn’t one-sided. Arsenal created chances and even had a goal from Mikel Merino ruled out for offside. Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli also came close, forcing key saves from PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Henry admitted PSG looked stronger overall, but he also saw moments that suggest Arsenal can turn things around.
“There’s still one more game,” Henry said on CBS Sports Golazo. “It’s not over. PSG were better, yes, but once Dembele went off, they dropped back, and Arsenal started to look more dangerous.”
The Gunners were playing in their first Champions League semi-final in 16 years, and nerves may have played a role. But as the game went on, they found more rhythm and started to push PSG back.
“It’s going to be a different game in Paris,” Henry said. “Arsenal have to believe, make adjustments, and go for it. They’re still in this.”
The second leg takes place next Wednesday in Paris. The winner will go on to face either Inter Milan or Barcelona in the Champions League final.
