Arzu Rana Deuba leads effort to find missing Nepalis in Uttarakhand flood

Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has said that diplomatic efforts have started to find and rescue Nepali citizens missing in the recent flood in India’s Uttarakhand.

She shared that after hearing about Nepalis missing in the flood, the Nepal government began diplomatic actions to help search and rescue them.

On social media, Minister Deuba said she was very sad to hear about Nepalis missing due to the flood. She said the Nepal government has asked the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi to urgently work with the Indian government to find and rescue the missing people.

Minister Deuba also expressed condolences to those who lost their lives in the flood and landslide and shared sympathy with the families affected.

On August 5 (Sawan 20), a sudden flood and landslide hit Dharali village in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, India, causing great loss of life and property. Rescue operations are still ongoing.

So far, at least 22 Nepali citizens are reported missing. Local officials say 13 are from Jajarkot, 4 from Dhading, 4 from Bardiya, and 1 from Jumla.
