Baglung Jeep Accident: Death Toll Reaches Four, Several Others Injured

The number of people who died in a jeep accident in Dhorpatan Municipality–5 of Baglung, has reached four as of Saturday morning.

The accident occurred Friday evening when a jeep (Lu Pra 01001 Cha 1775) was heading from Burtibang Bazaar to Chaur in Dhorpatan-5. Two elderly women, 70-year-old Narbahadur Karki and 75-year-old Bhimkumari Budha, both from Dhorpatan-2, died on the spot.

Tika Kumari Kunwar, 21, who was seriously injured, died on the way to Pokhara after receiving primary treatment at Burtibang Provincial Hospital. Another victim, 75-year-old Man Kumari Thapa from the same ward, died during treatment at Manipal Hospital in Pokhara on Saturday morning, according to Inspector Anand Basnet of Burtibang Area Police Office.

The injured include jeep driver Govinda Thapa, Lumbini Mahat, Indra Kunwar, and Nirmaya Khatri—all from Dhorpatan-2.

Others injured are:

  • Durgi Darji
  • 12-year-old Anju Pariyar
  • 8-year-old Viyano Budha Magar
  • 5-year-old Binay Budha
  • Dalli BK from Dhorpatan-5
  • 11-year-old Shishir Karki from Dhorpatan-1
  • Tonmaya Kunwar from Dhorpatan-5

The injured are being treated at Manipal Hospital in Pokhara and Mission Hospital in Palpa. Police said the jeep had veered off the road and fallen nearly 60 meters down a slope.
