Biratnagar Motorcycle accident during police check kills social activist
A man died in a motorcycle accident during a police vehicle check in Biratnagar on Tuesday night. The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Pushpa Kumar Chaudhary of Barju Rural Municipality–6, Sunsari.
The accident happened around 8:20 pm at Dudhfaram Chowk, Biratnagar Metropolitan City–4, where a police team from Morang District Police Office and traffic police were conducting checks.
According to police, a mini-truck (Province 1–02–001 K 5189) heading towards Nemuwa was stopped for inspection. At that moment, a motorcycle (Province 1–02–0046 P 6401) coming from the same direction hit the back of the truck.
Eyewitnesses said the motorcycle was moving at high speed and crashed after the truck was stopped by police. Chaudhary was seriously injured and taken to Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar, where he died during treatment.
The deceased Chaudhary was also known as a social activist.
Following the accident, police took the truck driver, 31-year-old Santosh Kumar Acharya of Budhiganga Rural Municipality–1, Morang, into custody for investigation.
