Chitwan Highway Accident: 7 Dead, 24 Injured, Identities Confirmed

All the victims of the tragic road accident at Daduwa in Rapti Municipality-4, Chitwan, on the East-West Highway have now been identified.

On Saturday afternoon, a passenger bus and an electric micro-vehicle (EV) collided, resulting in 7 deaths and 24 injuries.

According to police, five people died on the spot, while two others passed away during treatment. The bodies are currently kept at Bharatpur Hospital.

How the Accident Happened

The crash involved a bus (Province 1-01-001 Kha 3583) traveling from Dhangadhi to Kakarbhitta and an EV (Bagmati Province 03-001 Ja 299) heading to Narayangadh from Makawanpur. The vehicles collided head-on.

Injured passengers are being treated at Bharatpur Hospital, Old Medical College, and Chitwan Medical College.

Preliminary investigations suggest the accident may have been caused by over-speeding and possible brake failure.

Chitwan Police Chief Govinda Puri said a detailed investigation is ongoing. The road, which was briefly blocked after the accident, has now reopened.
