COVID-19 Cases Rising in India

The number of COVID-19 cases is increasing daily in neighboring India.

According to Indian media, the number of new infections has risen sharply in the last 24 hours. Currently, there are 3,578 active COVID-19 patients across the country, while 1,818 people have recovered.

On May 25 (12 Jestha), India’s Health Ministry had reported 1,009 active cases across 15 states. In just six days, that number has more than tripled to 3,578 active cases. COVID-19 has now spread to 26 states, up from 15 earlier.

Kerala Reports the Most Cases

Recent data shows that Kerala has the highest number of new infections, with 64 new cases. The total number of active cases in Kerala has now reached 1,400.

Other states with high numbers include:

  • Maharashtra: 485 cases
  • Delhi: 436 cases
  • Gujarat: 320 cases
  • West Bengal: 287 cases
  • Karnataka: 238 cases
  • Tamil Nadu: 199 cases
  • Uttar Pradesh: 149 cases

Most of the infected individuals are recovering at home through home isolation.

Two Deaths Reported

Indian media has reported two recent deaths from COVID-19. A 63-year-old man in Kerala and a 24-year-old woman in Karnataka died due to the virus. Both had pre-existing health conditions.
