Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that his time with Saudi club Al-Nassr may be coming to an end. After the Saudi Pro League season concluded, the 40-year-old shared a message on social media on Monday, writing: “This chapter is closed.”
Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in 2022 after parting ways with Manchester United. His contract with the club is set to expire this summer. Meanwhile, the FIFA Club World Cup is scheduled to begin in the United States next month.
A special transfer window will open from June 1 to 10, allowing the 32 participating clubs to sign players for the tournament. Alongside a photo of himself in the Al-Nassr jersey, Ronaldo wrote, “This chapter is closed. The story is still being written. Grateful to everyone.”
The post came just hours after Al-Nassr lost their final league match 3–2 against Al-Fateh, finishing third in the table. It also marked a disappointing end to the club’s season, as they missed out on qualifying for the Asian Champions League Elite.
Al-Nassr were eliminated in the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League back in April after losing to Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale.
Despite the team’s struggles, Ronaldo had an impressive individual season. He scored 24 goals and became the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League.
Although Ronaldo had previously said he wanted to end his career at Al-Nassr, his recent message has sparked speculation that he may be preparing for a new chapter elsewhere.
