The Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Samiti has announced the official auspicious time Sait (sahit) for this year’s Dashain Tika. According to the committee, the Tika on Ashwin 16, 2082 (October 2, 2025) should be placed at 11:53 am.
Dashain, also known as Vijaya Dashami, is the biggest and most widely celebrated Hindu festival in Nepal. The festival begins with Ghatasthapana on Ashwin 6 and continues for fifteen days, concluding on Kojagrat Purnima. Families gather across the country to celebrate, worship Goddess Durga, and strengthen social and family bonds.
The most significant day of Dashain is the tenth day, Vijaya Dashami, when elders place red Tika and Jamara on the foreheads of younger family members and give blessings for prosperity, longevity, and success. The auspicious time determined by astrologers, 11:53 am, is believed to bring good fortune and harmony.
Preparations have already begun in households, temples, and government offices for this year’s celebrations. The Office of the President has also scheduled its Tika program for around 11:55 am, shortly after the official sahit. Religious experts have described the chosen time as a “sign of prosperity and peace,” emphasizing its spiritual importance.
Dashain is more than a religious occasion—it is also a cultural and social celebration that brings together families, relatives, and communities across Nepal. Markets are already busy with people purchasing new clothes, gifts, and festival essentials, while transport services are expected to see a large flow of passengers traveling to their hometowns to celebrate with loved ones.
This year’s Dashain Tika time, announced at 11:53 am, will serve as the central moment of the nation’s most cherished festival, symbolizing victory of good over evil and renewal of family ties.
