Early Sunday morning around 4 AM, two sisters were seriously injured when wild elephants attacked them near Bargachi in Ward No. 1, Damak, Jhapa.

Sunita Rai and Kabita Rai were out for a morning walk when the wild elephants attacked. According to Hari Prasad Neupane, the ward chairperson, locals saw the elephants throw the sisters and then leave.

The sisters were immediately rescued and taken to Damak Hospital. Since the hospital could not provide full treatment, they were referred to Biratnagar for further care.

After the attack, the elephants returned to the Hamsedumse Community Forest nearby.
