A 70-year-old woman has died from COVID-19 in Pokhara, according to health officials. She was receiving treatment at Charak Hospital.
The woman was admitted after having trouble breathing, and she tested positive for COVID-19 on Asar 25 (July 9). Her condition worsened, and she passed away on Saun 4 (July 19), said Khimbahadur Khadka, Director of the Gandaki Health Directorate.
She also had high blood pressure and diabetes, which added to her health complications. Her PCR test was done at the Public Health Laboratory in Gandaki.
COVID-19 cases are rising again in Gandaki Province. In recent days, 5 cases have been reported in Kaski, 2 in Baglung, and 1 in Syangja, making a total of 8 new cases in the province.
COVID testing is ongoing at labs in Western Regional Hospital, Dhaulagiri Hospital in Baglung, and other centers. Even patients with mild symptoms are testing positive, Khadka told Media.
This is the first COVID-19 related death in Gandaki in nearly two and a half years. All new cases have been confirmed as COVID-19 by the health directorate.
