Govt Hikes Taxes on Alcohol, Tobacco, and E-Cigarettes
The government has increased taxes on alcohol, tobacco, and cigarette products.
While presenting the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83 in the joint session of the Federal Parliament, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel announced a rise in customs duty on imported alcohol, beer, tobacco, and electronic cigarettes.
Some other customs duty rates have also been adjusted.
There has been a slight increase in the current excise duty, and the scope of the health risk tax has been expanded.
