

Veteran journalist Haryadi Manjunath Bhat passes away at 72 in Bengaluru
Veteran Kannada journalist and writer Haryadi Manjunath Bhat has died in Bengaluru at the age of 72 after a brief illness.
Born in 1953 in Haryadi, Brahmavar taluk, Bhat completed his education at Udupi Poorna Prajna College. He began his career as a high school teacher but later turned to journalism in 1977, starting with Navabharat in Mangaluru. Over the decades, he worked with several leading Kannada publications, including Mungaru, Kannada Jana Antharanga, and Udayavani, where he served in roles ranging from reporter to sub-editor.
Following his retirement, Bhat continued to remain active in the literary and editorial field. He was associated with Utthana magazine and Rashtrotthana Sahitya, contributing to editorial work, translations, and biographies. His Kannada translations of English works and his editorial efforts on biographies earned wide recognition.
Bhat is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
