The provincial government has deployed a health team to control the cholera outbreak in Birgunj, Parsa.
Following instructions from Saroj Kumar Yadav, the Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development and acting Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, Dr. Bipin Kumar Jha, Chief of the Health and Population Ministry, and Public Health Officer Santosh Kumar Thakur were sent to Birgunj to coordinate and make treatment services more effective.
The Chief Minister’s Secretariat said that in coordination with Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh, who is on a visit to Malaysia, the provincial government is taking all possible measures to control the outbreak. The Provincial Health Directorate and local health offices have been made active for this purpose.
Health and Population Minister Shatrudhan Prasad Singh has also directed health workers to be deployed in the affected areas. The ministry is working quickly to coordinate treatment services, and further actions will be taken based on recommendations from the team sent to Birgunj.
On Friday, three people in Birgunj were confirmed to have cholera.
