The iPhone 17 series is expected to launch in September 2025, and early leaks are hinting at huge changes — from a bold new camera layout to next-level battery life.
Rumors say the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be thicker than before. That’s not bad news — this extra size might allow Apple to fit a larger battery, possibly giving it the best battery life ever on an iPhone. Reports suggest it could even be renamed the iPhone 17 Ultra to match its beast-like power.
Apple already increased battery performance on the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which offers up to 33 hours of video playback. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to push that number even higher.
Forget the old square-shaped camera bump. Leaked renders show the iPhone 17 Pro might feature a camera bar that spans the entire back width, similar to the Google Pixel design.
One render shows the bar blending in with the phone’s color, while another shows a contrasting camera panel, which doesn’t line up with recent reports. The camera setup includes:
These components are now neatly lined up on one side of the camera bar.
Some concept designs suggest a periscope-style zoom camera (possibly 48MP), but experts say Apple may stick to its tetraprism lens, which hides the zoom tech inside a normal-looking lens.
Other renders show Touch ID making a comeback — but don’t get your hopes up. Apple is unlikely to bring back fingerprint unlock this year.
While the new camera bar design looks clean, not everyone is loving it. The camera lenses still stick out, which could cause the phone to wobble on flat surfaces — unless you use a case.
Still, some users may like that the full-width camera design offers more balance when placed on a table.
