In an update to the earlier story from Bardagoriya-3, Dhangadhi, 17-year-old Yachana Sejuwal was fatally attacked by her co-worker Niraj Saud at the sekkuwa and momo center where they both worked.
Yachana had started working as a waitress at the Rajdhani Sekuwa & Momo Center in Bauniya just 15 days ago. Niraj Saud, 33, from Bardagoriya-1, was a cook at the same place. He is divorced and has two children.
During their short time working together, Yachana and Niraj developed a close relationship, which soon turned into a romantic one. According to police, Saud had told investigators that he wanted to marry Yachana and live with her.
Over time, Yachana had also started helping in the kitchen. On Saturday morning, the two were working together in the kitchen when a sudden argument broke out. During the fight, Saud picked up a knife and stabbed her in the neck.
At the time of the incident, only the two were present in the kitchen. Hotel staff at the counter only found out what happened after Yachana collapsed from the injury. She was rushed to Nisarga Hospital in Dhangadhi but could not be saved.
According to DSP Rajkumar Singh of the District Police Office, Saud has admitted to stabbing Yachana after becoming angry when he found out she was talking to other boys on the phone, despite previously agreeing to marry him.
“She used to say she loved me and wanted to marry me, but I found out she was also doing video calls and talking with other boys,” Saud told police. “I couldn’t handle it and, in a fit of anger, grabbed a knife and stabbed her. I now regret my actions.”
Saud has been taken into custody by Area Police Office Sukhad, while Yachana’s body has been sent to Seti Provincial Hospital for post-mortem.
