An auto accident happened in a landslide area at Kharkhare, Ward 6, Besisahar Municipality, Lamjung, injuring six people. Two seriously hurt victims were sent to Old Medical College in Chitwan for further treatment.
The auto with license plate Ga Pra 04001 Ha 0285 was going from Besisahar to Khudi. On Thursday afternoon around 1:30 PM, it fell about 100 meters down the Kharkhare cliff into the Marsyangdi River, police said.
According to District Police Chief DSP Resham Bohara, six people including the driver were injured and rescued. They were taken to the Provincial Hospital in Besisahar for treatment. The auto was washed away by the river.
Two seriously injured women are 45-year-old Syanumaya Gurung from Arughat-1, Gorkha (now living in Chanoute, Besisahar-6) and 45-year-old Susmita Tamang from Tadi Rural Municipality-2, Nuwakot (now living in Chanoute, Besisahar-6). They were referred to Old Medical College, Chitwan for advanced care.
Other injured people receiving treatment at the provincial hospital are 30-year-old driver Top Bahadur Lama from Taghring, Marsyangdi Rural Municipality-4, 35-year-old Anjali Gurung, 48-year-old Dhankumari Gurung, and 40-year-old Shiladevi Gurung, all from Besisahar.
Police say the accident may have happened because the road was difficult due to the landslide, the auto was carrying more passengers than its capacity, and it was moving at high speed.
