Lightning Strike Kills Boy, Injures Man in Makawanpur Amid Rain
A 14-year-old boy died and a 32-year-old man was injured in Makawanpur district Thursday after being struck by lightning during rainfall, police said.
Kanchan Gole, 14, of Thamalek, Kailash Rural Municipality-9, was sitting on a cot outside his home when lightning struck, killing him instantly, said District Police Office Makawanpur spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police Shamu Aryal.
In a separate incident, Krishna Bahadur Shrestha, 32, of Deurali village, Bagmati Rural Municipality-2, was injured by lightning while inside his own house. Aryal said Shrestha is receiving treatment at Raigaun Health Post.
Police also reported that a local resident’s home, belonging to Kamaljang Ranamagar, sustained damage from a lightning strike.
