Lionel Messi scored two brilliant goals to help Inter Miami beat CF Montreal 4–1 in Major League Soccer (MLS).
Messi gave Miami the lead in the 40th minute. Thomas Avilés sent a long pass that Luis Suárez headed toward Messi. Messi controlled the ball, entered the box, and scored with his left foot into the far post.
This was Miami’s first MLS match in a month, as they had recently returned from playing in the FIFA Club World Cup. Last week, they lost 4–0 to PSG in that tournament.
Montreal started the game strong, with Prince Owusu scoring in just the 2nd minute to give them an early lead. But in the 33rd minute, Tadeo Allende scored from Messi’s pass to make it 1–1.
In the 60th minute, Telasco Segovia scored Miami’s third goal. Just two minutes later, Messi scored again, beating several Montreal defenders before finishing beautifully to secure the win.
With these two goals, Messi now has 12 goals in 14 MLS games this season.
