Lumbini Province Assembly member Sarita Pun has passed away.
She died during treatment at Manmohan Center under Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj in Kathmandu on Saturday, August 29, according to UML Politburo member and Rukum East in-charge Khemman Khadka.
Pun, originally from Taksera in Rukum East, was taken to Kathmandu a few days ago after facing health problems. Doctors performed two major surgeries. In the first operation, she gave birth to a daughter, and in the second, doctors implanted an artificial heart valve.
Pun was elected to the Lumbini Province Assembly through the proportional representation system from CPN-UML. The assembly has 87 members in total.
