Continuous rainfall since last night in Sudurpashchim has increased the water flow in the Mahakali River. As a result, large vehicles are not allowed to cross the Banbasa bridge near the Sharada Barrage, the Kanchanpur District Police Office said.

By 11 am today, the river’s flow had reached 126,712 cusecs. Police spokesperson Sagar Bohara said the water level could rise further if the rain continues.

According to police, four-wheeled vehicles have been stopped at the Nepal-India border’s Banbasa bridge, but motorcycles and pedestrians are still allowed to cross.
